How’d that come about, you want to know? Well, we were out on a boat ride, I asked him what he was working on, he explained the concept and... wheels began turning in my head. That’s actually how most of my stories come about. They’re crazy spur of the moment, written by the seat of my pants.
Anyhoo, J.Z. saw me mentally plotting and said, “Why do you ask? Have an idea?”
I always have ideas, but I hedged with, “How are you choosing the authors for the antho?”
And he, being the wonderful son he is, said, “Mom, seriously, if you want to put a story in there, consider it done.”
And there you have it. I’d written stories as L.L. before – specifically my Servant series.
Over the next few days I took my kernel of an idea and wrote it into a story with a vulnerable but kick-ass heroine, a low key but supportive hero, darkness, death and a few macabre twists.
