To my good friend, and romance supporter Barb Hicks.

I met Barb when my very first book was published. She's visible on many email lists, does online reviews for a variety of sites, and is now a contributor to Arabella Magazine .

Barb is well loved by many authors, and is friends with many readers far and wide.

If you know Barb, or if you just want to thank her for tirelessly supporting the romance genre, please take a few moments to post.

Bad Barb is the least bad person I know! Thank you Barb for your unfailing support of romance, your great reviews, and best of all, The Closet. And thanks Lori for recognizing Barb in such a nice way.

I've been priviledged to have known Barb for a couple of years now. I now consider her one of my truest friends. Always there with a witty comment, a tease about an upcoming book and with a naughty outlook on life. Barb is truly a one of a kind. Keep up the good (or bad...lol) work Barb.

Barb - You may have heard me say on Lori's board that one of my favorite Christmas movies is The Muppet Christmas Carol. In one of the songs called "Thankful Heart" the lyrics say, "...and if you need to know the measure of a man (or woman!), you simply count "her" friends!! You have made a positive impact on many people's lives, and this tribute is well-deserved!!

It's MY Turn!!! . Don't worry, Barb. I'll be kind. He-he. There is a closet with my name on it, i know.

Seriously though...
Barb has been a driving force in my writing career because she's been a friend who wouldn't let me give up and was honest enough to tell me if it could be better.

I met her in a chat room in September of 1999, and when she found out i was seriously writing, hoping to be published someday, she's been on my case Ever since! It's thanks to her and other friends i've met through her that my dreams have come true and there is a book with my name on it, with two more in 2004!

She makes fun of me til i am laughing at myself, and lemme tell ya, that's not easy to do! It's a special person who can turn you from pessimist to optimist, but somehow, Barb did that.

I'm grateful for the friendship she's shown me, and i'll continue to be a friend to her for many years to come.

Thanks Barb, for all your wonderful deeds, your shameless promotion of your favorite authors, and unending support of friends. We're so glad you found your way to the Internet and to all of us. I'm lucky to have met you, and to be a part of your life.
Hugs!
Morgan.

OH MY GAWD!!! I had no idea this was up until Patti mentioned it to me tonight. I think the best thing I ever did was buy webtv and go online. I have met so many people who have become really good friends over the years. When I first came online, I had hopes of meeting maybe an author or two, it just boggles my mind when I think about how many I have met and have become close friends with over the years. Lori has been so supportive over the few years I have been looking for a job and in the last couple of months even more so. I really don't think I do anything, I just think its a case of me having a big mouth.
Thanks Lori for doing this!!

I haven't known Barb very long, just a few months really, so it amazes me how she's already touched my life and blessed my career. She's an amazing woman with a gift for words in her reviews and she's so very supportive of the many subgenres of romance. I admire her big time and I'm so glad to have connected with her!

Hugs,
Lucy

Just wanted to add my two cents about Barb, who has become such a cherished friend. For years, we've been able to talk about everything from books to children to jobs and everything in between. I loved sharing a cab with her from the airport in NYC this summer so we had a few moments to speak privately. She's been a huge supporter of my career and I know she's hand-sold so many of my books through her enthusiasm and true, heart-felt love of the genre. I can't say enough about Barb and wish her all the best in 2004 and beyond!!!
